Schedugram has undergone its biggest transformation since we first launched five years ago, and we’re changing names too. Introducing Sked Social: your all-in-one visual marketing platform. No longer just for Instagram, Sked is now the only platform you need to create, plan and publish content to your Facebook Pages and Twitter (coming soon) too. It’s a big step and has been a huge amount of work. When we originally started Schedugram, we were all about Instagram, and just Instagram. But along the way, you’ve all been begging us for more! Becoming Sked is the start. First up, thank you to every one of you for joining us on this incredible journey. It’s been almost 5 years since we started, and your feedback is what helped us build the incredible platform that we’re launching today. ‘Schedugram’ was a great name for what we used to do: scheduling content to Instagram only. But with the launch of Facebook Page scheduling, we aren’t just about Instagram anymore. So we’ve become Sked. Sked isn’t too far of a departure from our original name. The shorter and catchier moniker is also a term used to describe regular check-ins between people (particularly in maritime and amateur radio environments), much like you do on social media with your own followers. We hope you love it as much as we do. Welcome to the Sked family! The Start of A Whole New Revolution Sked will be your home for visual marketing—whether you’re a small café, an eCommerce company, a global media brand or an agency. Schedugram was one of the first platforms that addressed the question: “how do you excel at marketing your brand or business visually on Instagram?” With us, it wasn’t all about text and links, which dominated the first generation of social media marketing. Our focus has always been to help customers produce the best visual marketing possible. Instagram will still be our core channel because it’s still a core channel for our customers. The focus on visual marketing is now the norm on ‘legacy’ social media channels like Facebook and Twitter. A Small Piece of Our Own Visual Marketing Our first logo and website were … horrible. Like many early-stage startups, there were too many other things to do than worry about design. Some customers will still remember that first iteration: We have come a long way since, but we wanted to go all out for our revamp, so we teamed up with specialist branding agency Lama Six. We love our new logo, as it gives the Sked brand the flexibility to be used as a building block (haha) for our sub-products, like the recently launched Sked Link (stay tuned to our blog for more on this new feature). But we also wanted our personality to shine through– after all, that’s what social media is all about! One thing’s for sure: you won’t be seeing us morph into a corporate tool for companies, so we want to be friendly and make work fun, and efficient too! This intention led us to our new mascot: Quirky the quokka. For those who don’t know, quokkas are a uniquely Australian animal and are known worldwide (particularly on the ‘grams) for being incredibly friendly and sociable to humans. Count on seeing more of Quirky over time (stay tuned for t-shirts, stickers, tote bags, and adventures)! We’re pretty stoked, and the team is debating what Quirky should do next (and also whether he should wear pants). Cultivating Collaboration As We Grow We’ve also learned from you – our users – that good visual marketing is a team effort, whether between team members internally or collaborating with photographers, videographers or designers. So unlike other social media platforms, fruitful and cost-effective collaboration features will remain a huge focus for Sked. We’ve always had unlimited users rather than per person/user billing in order for you to be able to effectively collaborate within, across and outside teams without worrying about the bill. There are some exciting developments about our collaboration tools that we’ll share soon! Think post-approval workflows for your internal and external approvers and commenting on posts to help you produce the best feeds possible.
