Waiting to Tie the Knot: How Wedding Planner Pros are Engaging & Prepping for a 2021 Wedding Wave

  • 3 Minutes
Richmond Weddings is continuing to spread love and preparing for a wave of weddings in 2021.

This post is part of our COVID–19 business stories series, where we share how different brands have responded to the pandemic.

Richmond Weddings is an all encompassing wedding planning service. They have a magazine, wedding shows, local vendor directory and real wedding inspiration.

We reached out to talk about how a company in an industry that has virtually been shut down by the pandemic, is continuing to spread love and preparing for a wave of weddings in 2021.

How has your company been affected by COVID-19? In what ways have you had to change your day-to-day business operations?

Our office is closed and we’re now working from home, but we are still operating full steam ahead on social media, blogging and keeping up with vendor relationships on a daily basis (in a new way). We have video staff meetings weekly but it is not the same.

We are unable to meet clients at our office or their place of business which we prefer versus phone or email. We are also unable to meet potential clients face to face. Inquiries have all but dried up.

How are you strategizing your brand messaging at the moment?

We’ve been strategic in our messaging: positive, looking forward, helpful. We try to remind our followers to continue planning weddings if they are later in the year and beyond and tell our clients to stay as active as possible and utilize us as a resource.

Are you changing how you market your business, or selling new products or services to meet changing market needs?

We continue to be very active on social media and our blog. Our marketing message is the same as our core values have not changed.

One service we’ve added is to do a weekly Facebook LIVE zoom meeting with vendors for Q&A on wedding planning. We use Instagram and Facebook as a resource to get questions from our audience.

What trends are you seeing in your industry? Are there other brands you admire for what they’re posting right now?

Our industry is at a standstill. Weddings don’t typically adhere to small gatherings of under 10 with social distancing. The trend we are setting is to keep positive and support local where you can. Weddings in 2021 and beyond are still being planned and we need to be ready when that wave hits.
