Q&A with Hamish McKay from Order Editing

From running a company to dodging “brain rot” on TikTok, Hamish McKay’s approach to social media is equal parts sharp and self-aware. The Coffeezilla-featured CEO has opinions on everything, from MrBeast to the underrated art of not posting crud.

Hamish McKay is the Co-founder and CEO of Order Editing, the Shopify app helping brands increase revenue post-purchase without compromising customer experience. Known for his sharp wit and no-BS take on tech, Hamish blends startup grit with a marketer’s instinct — building tools that quietly power some of the biggest names in eCommerce. When he’s not scaling growth for merchants, he’s navigating the fine line between productivity and “brain rot” on Instagram, collecting receipts (literally), and occasionally featuring in YouTube exposés with millions of views.

Photos of receipts

Saving places on google maps with emojis (i.e. restaurants list, bars list, etc).

5. Most underrated social media skill?
Being intelligent enough to at least signal that your contents not going to be crud forever.

6. If you could ban one trend forever, what would it be?
MrBeast.

7. Who are 3 brands/creators you’re vibing with right now?
Loop Earplugs, Fallow (the restaurant), and Fern for Youtube docu essays (insanely good).

8. Go-to comfort food after a chaotic day?
Fried rice.

9. Best DM you’ve ever received (or sent)?
Coffeezilla asking me to feature in a YouTuber expose (video now has over 5M views)

10. What’s your biggest ick on LinkedIn right now?
Generic content from salespeople on how to be better salespeople.
