Katy Pilar knows a thing or two about building brands that stick. As APAC Marketing Lead at Intuit Mailchimp, she spends her days at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and community and her nights wrangling kids, pasta, and the occasional Chrome tab shortcut.

1. What would your MySpace song be in 2025?
Blackbird - Fat Freddy's Drop

2. Instagram or TikTok? Defend your answer.
TikTok because I built my FYP brick-by-brick and it is unmatched.

3. What's in your camera roll way too much?
My kids. There is literally nothing else.

4. A tool, app, or sneaky little shortcut you swear by?
Not enough people know that you can search for the right Chrome tab if you click that little arrow in the top right corner...

5. Most underrated social media skill?
Personal brand. It feels gross but it matters more than ever.

6. If you could ban one trend forever, what would it be?
The 'Trad Wife' revival. It's the wrong answer to the right question.

7. Who are 3 brands/creators you’re vibing with right now?
My amazing friend @sophworkbaby. I'm her #1 fangirl in life and socials.
@tahliakenneddy blowing my mind with useable AI hacks every day.
@shwinnabegobrand definitely one of the biggest brains in branding at the moment.

8. Go-to comfort food after a chaotic day?
Pasta, in all its shapes and sauces.

9. Best DM you’ve ever received (or sent)?
I have a friend who telepathically DMs me whenever I'm at a low point. It's spooky and highly valued.

10. What’s your biggest ick on LinkedIn right now?
I'm working on getting over my LinkedIn ick and post in a way that feels less gross to me.

Q&A with Emma-Jaye Zappacosta

May 15, 2026

Emma-Jaye Zappacosta has spent more than a decade working in social media, and her perspective cuts through a lot of the noise currently flooding the industry. In this Q&A, she talks about why brands need to stop treating posting as the finish line, how comment sections have become one of the most important growth levers in social, and why the strongest content strategies are built on distinctiveness — not trend-chasing. It’s thoughtful, sharp, and full of the kind of insights that only come from someone who’s actually done the work.

Q&A with Camille Safadi

May 8, 2026

There’s a lot of content being made right now. Most of it looks the same. Same formats. Same ideas. Same AI-assisted variations of what’s already worked for someone else. Camille Safadi’s approach is a bit different. Find what resonates, double down on it, and evolve it instead of starting from scratch. Because when something already works, the smartest move isn’t to replace it. It’s to build on it. Simple. But most brands still get it wrong.
