Hamish McKay is the Co-founder and CEO of Order Editing, the Shopify app helping brands increase revenue post-purchase without compromising customer experience. Known for his sharp wit and no-BS take on tech, Hamish blends startup grit with a marketer’s instinct — building tools that quietly power some of the biggest names in eCommerce. When he’s not scaling growth for merchants, he’s navigating the fine line between productivity and “brain rot” on Instagram, collecting receipts (literally), and occasionally featuring in YouTube exposés with millions of views.

1. What would your MySpace song be in 2025?
Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish, we're getting married one day.

2. Instagram or TikTok? Defend your answer.
Instagram because there's incrementally less brain rot and at least I can lie to myself that there's some net positive utility to the app if I post photos of my life.

3. What's in your camera roll way too much?
Photos of receipts

4. A tool, app, or sneaky little shortcut you swear by?
Saving places on google maps with emojis (i.e. restaurants list, bars list, etc).

5. Most underrated social media skill?
Being intelligent enough to at least signal that your contents not going to be crud forever.

8. Go-to comfort food after a chaotic day?
Fried rice.

9. Best DM you’ve ever received (or sent)?
Coffeezilla asking me to feature in a YouTuber expose (video now has over 5M views)

Most brands don't have a content problem. They have a content mix problem. In this Q&A, she unpacks the shift towards social commerce, why paid TikTok is becoming a competitive advantage, and the mistakes brands are making that will leave them behind when TikTok Shop lands in Australia.
