Jackson Berry is the kind of social operator who cuts through noise by focusing on the basics most brands still ignore: usefulness, intent, and respect for the platform. As a Senior Content & Social Media Manager, he’s doubled down on content that actually helps people — the kind that gets saved, shared, and revisited long after the scroll.

1. What’s one social strategy you’ve doubled down on this year that’s actually moved the needle?
Content that actually helps the audience. Content that educates resonates with your audience and provides value straight away.

2. What’s a mistake you see brands making on socials right now that’s quietly killing reach or engagement?
Collaborating with influencers/creators on a transactional basis. It should be long-term partnerships that are a win for everyone involved including their audience.

3. What’s the metric you care about most and why?
Saves - Something you need to consciously check, shows how helpful and relevant your content actually is. Create for saves and the rest of the metrics will follow for sure.

4. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given about content or creativity?
Content purpose built for the platform, no platform is the same and they should be treated differently.

5. What’s the worst advice you followed for way too long?
Hashtags work 👀

6. What book, album, podcast, or creator has quietly shaped how you think about your work?
505 podcast - mainly focused on solo creators but a lot of good insights brands can use.

7. What’s a habit or rule in your workflow that keeps you sane and consistent?
Time blocked the **** out of my calendar (and actually work by it, trust me)

8. If you had to explain your content strategy to a non-marketer in one sentence, what would you say?
Value, value, value. Seems obvious. Provide so much value that people forget your a brand, or that your selling something.

9. What’s something about working in socials that doesn’t get talked about enough?
The screen time racking up on your phone.

Most brands don't have a content problem. They have a content mix problem. In this Q&A, she unpacks the shift towards social commerce, why paid TikTok is becoming a competitive advantage, and the mistakes brands are making that will leave them behind when TikTok Shop lands in Australia.
