Renee Shaw is the brains behind brand and socials at tl;dv, known for her unapologetic honesty, sharp wit, and refusal to follow the standard social media playbook. She mixes critical thinking with a little chaos to keep digital spaces refreshingly real.

1. What would your MySpace song be in 2025?

Tiptoe thru the Tulips- Tiny Tim.

2. Instagram or TikTok? Defend your answer.

TikTok - I don't have IG because I care about my mental health and am therefore better than everyone else.

3. What's in your camera roll way too much?

My bearded dragon (Susan).

4. A tool, app, or sneaky little shortcut you swear by?

I record everything with two cameras. Not because I'm hedging my bets on what angle will look best, but because being constantly surveilled makes me perform better.

5. Most underrated social media skill?

Media literacy/ critical thinking and the ability to think more long term.

6. If you could ban one trend forever, what would it be?

"Our intern wrote this" and other pseudo quirky little things millennials SMMs say to appear relevant to gen z audiences.

7. Who are 3 brands/creators you’re vibing with right now?

Jim Friend

Brisk Canada

Carmen Vicente (Gorgias)

8. Go-to comfort food after a chaotic day?

Affogato.

9. Best DM you’ve ever received (or sent)?

People like to spill their innermost secrets to me through DMs so I have a lot to choose from but my favourite (read: most terrifying) was a dm that opened "I would drag my b*lls across broken glass just to pick your brain for an hour".

10. What’s your biggest ick on LinkedIn right now?

Everything. I hate that place. That and those "blooper" reels of people flubbing their lines on video. I haven't watched a blooper episode since The Office behind the scenes of 2005. I'm not about to start watching a SMM in Wisconsin who thinks they're adorable /rant.
