Instagram News:

What happened:

Instagram is apparently working on a feature that would allow others to add photos and videos to your post (if the original creator approves it).

What this means for you + clients:

The feature has been pointed out by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi. If this feature launches it could be an awesome way to source user-generate content and get your audience engaged. Stay tuned!

Threads News:

What happened:

Threads continues to build out the platform and has added some new features.

What this means for you + clients:

Many of these were highly-requested features including:

  • The ability to share Threads in Instagram DMs
  • See the Threads you've liked
  • Sort the accounts you follow
  • Add alt-text to images and videos
  • Threads support for rel=me links to help verify identity on platforms like Mastadon

A web version and improved search are coming "in the next few weeks" according to Mark Zuckerberg.

What happened:

TikTok launches a global music competition called "Gimme the Mic" to "discover new musical talent and support aspiring music creators."

What this means for you + clients:

Probably nothing unless you're an up-and-coming musical artist who wants to enter the competition or just a fan of music. It's a virtual talent show and you can follow along on their TikTok @tiktoklive_us.

What happened:

TikTok has introduced a feature called "Comment Care Mode" that is designed to offer users more anti-bullying protection.

What this means for you + clients:

This mode will have stricter filters that may be unwelcoming or unfriendly based on:

  • Comments that have been flagged by multiple users
  • Similarity to previously reported or deleted comments
  • Comments that are inappropriate, offensive, or contain profanity

X (Twitter) News:

What happened:

X officially launched their Ads Revenue Sharing Program and creators are seeing some pretty good payouts. X says, "Ads revenue sharing lets you share revenue from verified user's organic impressions of ads displayed in replies to content you post on X."

What this means for you + clients:

To be eligible for the program you must:

  • Be subscribed to X Premium or Verified Organizations.
  • Have at least 15M organic impressions on your cumulative posts within the last 3 months.
  • Have at least 500 followers

It's still unclear how X is assigning value to those impressions though.
