As Head of Content at Carsales, Ben Tyers knows what makes audiences tick — and scroll. With a background that bridges editorial storytelling and modern social strategy, Ben’s approach mixes curiosity, clarity, and a touch of chaos (usually courtesy of TikTok). Whether he’s deep in zucchini-growing content or managing Carsales’ next big campaign, he’s driven by one thing: creating work that actually connects.

1. What would your MySpace song be in 2025?
It always was The Final Countdown by Europe. If it ain’t broke…

2. Instagram or TikTok? Defend your answer.
TikTok. Purely because you never know what you’re going to get. Today, I’ve got old blokes giving me tips how to grow zucchini, tomorrow I’m deep into croquet tok. There’s no better way to get a break from reality.

3. What's in your camera roll way too much?
I would say my kids, but in their case it would be never enough. The amount of times I find myself spending time looking at old photos of them is wild, especially when I think about what that scenario looks like in ten or twenty years time. That, and trains. I love a train.

4. A tool, app, or sneaky little shortcut you swear by?
At the risk of sounding unoriginal, it’s utilising AI to collect my thoughts. Even just being able to organise thoughts or ideas into lists or action items has really changed my ability to get the most out of my days.

5. Most underrated social media skill?
Proactivity. Don’t wait for the audience to come to you, to engage. Go to where they are.

6. If you could ban one trend forever, what would it be?
Having to comment “chicken” or “bowl” to then get a DM to then sign up to an email newsletter, to then get a recipe which probably wasn’t worth the embarrassment of having to write “chicken” in a comment on a platform visible to everyone in the world.

7. Who are 3 brands/creators you’re vibing with right now?
Luke Donkin, I just relate far too much to everything he creates. Forrest Jones, being new to the auto space he is the yardstick when it comes to telling those stories on a vertical format. Patrick Gavia, while I’m not into MMA, his mini docs and explainers are on a whole different level.

8. Go-to comfort food after a chaotic day?
Kit Kat Chunky, and if we’re being specific, it’s a Milo one. The closest experience you’ll get to the original Milo Bar.

9. Best DM you’ve ever received (or sent)?
September last year I got a DM asking if I’d be interested in applying for a role as Head of Content at Carsales. And here we are

10. What’s your biggest ick on LinkedIn right now?
It’s become a place where there’s not a lot to like. Biggest ick would have to be those that are using AI to write everything they post. It still should be a place where you share thoughts and ideas, but like every other platform, it you’re inauthentic you’ll get found out pretty quickly.
